Parents in the Avant Garde
The public dome and Scribble Scores belong to PAG’s Newburgh work.

We took the dome and the scores into Newburgh with Chapman Steamer Arts and Arts in the Park. Build a place to gather, make the marks, then play them: children, parents, neighbors and the musicians can all alter what is happening.
The wooden frame gives us somewhere to hang the scores and somewhere to convene. The drawings can become part of the structure while the sound carries through it. Building a temporary room is one way of making room for a different kind of music.
The films keep the building, drawing and playing in motion. They sit alongside the scores and photographs as another way into the work.
Our flyer invited children to make scores on paper and parents, neighbors and the young artists to interpret them through sound. Bring an instrument if you choose. The workshop and performance were presented by Chapman Steamer Arts and Arts in the Park.
